Suppliers

Fylde guitars

Based in Cumbria, they make excellent guitars, but for your editor their Cittern, Bouzouki, Mandola family of instruments (however you wish to describe them) are the main attraction.

Hobgoblin music

UK based supplier of folkie instruments, now with several shops in the UK, and an international presence. The website is attractive, with a magazine section giving loads of good links. They also do mail order instruments and sundries.

The Music Room

Cleckheaton is not only the home to a charming little festival with a good deal of pub sessions, but is also the home of a music shop of wide reputation in the UK, which is now called 'the music room', and was formerly known as Dave Mallison music. They have just launched an excellent site, with all sorts of interesting aspects to it. There are some good technical tips and information on their stock, which includes a whole raft of mandolin family instruments and a huge range of squeeze boxes (and that is by know means the limit of it). The team provide a level of technical advice which is quite outstanding, both for new and experienced players, and you will rarely find such a supportive and friendly atmosphere. The web site gives them the opportunity to be seen by a wider audience.

Meet like minded friends at the Mudcat cafe. In that song you know, did you want to know the history of those lyrics, or the meaning of that regional expression ? Can you only remember a snatch of that song you really like ? Someone at the Mudcat will help you, just ask the question.

Also the contact point for the digital tradition database of song lyrics.
